Aksima's owner, Dr. Andreas Kummer has a PhD in Physics from the Technische Universität München and is author/co-author of numerous publications in scientific journals. Aside from his scientific career, he has gathered more than 20 years of experience in the field of software development. Among past projects are a school administrative solution for the "Gymnasiale Oberstufe" (roughly equivalent to US senior high schools) in the state of Baden-Württemberg, Germany, a software package for contact, sales and warehouse management for the South German sand-lime brick industry and several scientific programs, e.g. for structure tracking in satellite image sequences.

Aside from procedural languages like C, Pascal, Fortran and Basic, Andreas' programming skills encompass object-oriented technologies (Objective-C, Cocoa with AppKit and Foundation frameworks) that are currently employed on Apple Macintosh computer systems. He is also proficient in HTML/XML and JavaScript and has expertise in the development of 4D database applications. He worked several years as a freelance Macintosh systems consultant at a large German Apple Center and based on this, he has an expert grasp of the Mac OS from version 6.0.2 up to the latest version of Mac OS X.
